Its about time Apple started their run in the world of Smart Phones/ PDAs. And why shouldnt their first be as sexy as this. Design Pic shows the 'iPhone' playing movies and music and giving the option for the click wheel at any point, brilliant. Just the thing to wipe Microsoft out of the market. But, who is this aimed at? Certainly not the average iPod user, and unless its price tag is considerably lower than what it looks like it would be, IF apple uses this sort of design, then its only going to sell to the high earning buisness men around. Thats a bit hypocritical after seeing the new Apple ads, dont you think?
i think this does appeal to the graphic designer/aadvertising crowd. but they arent as tech savvy as you think ;) anyways, i like this one. if there are skinny areas for chips to slide in the side to upgrade or for a memory card. thats cool. save the world once again from high technology turnover.
soft everything....nice. Why have physical buttons at all when touch tech is so good. and they plan to offer about 3 different phones, so this would be aimed at business/smart phone market, while the slider-like nano-looking version could appeal to the low-cost phone only market.
idiotic. why have the buttons laid out in portrait when you're watching a movie in landscape? soft-everything doesnt work. HTC Prophet is best compromise.
i think this is it. there was a hint that the new phone would be full screen (better for watching movies and such. but idk if a stylus would be a good idea. may get lost easily & annoying.
This is probably the most likely of all of them. Since apple has filed for patents on touch-screen related stuff. It will probably be a full screen with the click-wheel on the bottom and then menus above. When you go to watch movies you'll probably turn it to its side, with the click-wheel fading away and the movie taking the entire screen (wonder why they made all iTunes movies 640-480? So it would fit the resoultion of a 3.5 inch screen) Then when you go to the phone option, it will fade up the number pad....this would fit all of the possibilities and hopes of what people expect in the next ipod.
Btw, it probably wont use a stylus, one of their patents is with another company that is working on simple finger-touch..just hope they can figure out how to make the finger-prints go away too.
nice design but not really practical, not with the technology now anyway. where would you insert the sim card and how about back up battery? panel too large so easy to crack. The juggle button on the sony ericsson 910 is really a good idea, might wanna consider include that.
I like this one a lot. You did a great job, however, I don't believe that Apple wants to be in the $500 market at this time and you have made it look so good that it looks like it would cost at least that much. I can't tell if it has a camera? Great idea! I just think it would be to expensive for Apple's first move into phones. I do think Apple should make a PDA (yes, a new newton) but not yet there are too many questions about what people want.
Attention Apple!! I do NOT own an iPod or any mp3 player. I do not have a compact digital camera, and my cell phone is plain and simple. I dont want to carry around 5 different devices so thats why i have put off buying them. I am waiting for an ALL-IN-ONE device that slips easily into my pocket. THIS is the one. I assume it has a camera in it. I hope. ANyway, what i like best about this one is the large screen. WHy the heck would i pay $300 to watch a movie on a 2" screen?? This full screen version is PERFECT!!!! A phone, a widescreen movie player, an mp3 player, and a camera ALL in one. And a touch screen. BUILD THIS ONE!!!!
I love this iphone idea the best! I think it's clean and beautiful! It has Apple Iphone written all over it!
I just the screen button and menu needs developing a bit.
I picture this phone design for the iphone. I can see text chatting maybe done like pic-o-chat for the DS. Top half of the screen you can read the chat and the bottom half displays the buttons, and menu.
As for the dialing I picture the same thing. Bottom display the keypad along with a the menu that is currently displayed on their design, and the top half show's you what you have keyed in so far.
Last but not least I invision the MP3 part looking just like the current display of an ipod when you play music, showing up on the top, and a "touchable" click wheel on the bottom.
Only thing left to add is a mini camera, and make it able to surf the web. If they can do all that then I will SO buy it. I think it will look awesome if they do this design!
I agree with rubbershoes, this seems like the way for apple using a full touchscreen. A stylus is still necessary for the little details, fingers are just too big. This would fit their patent they filed for using only a full touchscreen with no scroll wheel. The scrool wheel is a thing of the past. But can they sync their data with PC's? Remember how much more ipod users they had after they made itunes for Windows? Nice concept idea, looks very logical to me.
Mai Mai has no idea of what (he/she) is talking bout. This is very practical. But this wont be the iPhone. This is actualy a leaked concept design for the next generation iPod videos. Check it out.
I like it, but while touch typing is getting better, I dont know if i like the idea of always having to clean the hell out of my screen bc i keep typing on it. Looks too high maitnence(sp)
So this looks like it is very close to the real deal! Steves dislike of the stylus is the only thing you were off on. That and the fact that it runs OSX. Good Job@! Pun intended!
As for the anonymous comment that Apple does not want to be in the $500 market your right they want to be in the $600 market!
I think the new phone is cool but 8/4gb is a bit disapointing to me!
well done. almost better than the original. well, ok, just as good then. one of the few who dared think outside of the conventional yet backward phone designs that are already on the market. having said that, sony psp has been out for a while, but they obviously had less vision than you or apple. even though they have all the resources apart from software. i hope apple gets some game developers onboard... the sky is the limit. rubbershoes seems to be a master at deduction..... keep up the good work folks.
Wow I'm really impressed! You should submit this to apple with your resume. Though I'd remove the stylus otherwise Mr. Jobs might make fun of you :-p (watch the keynote if you don't know what I mean)
Wow, I like to be a first buyer of this phone, is not for that it is smart, bcos it has all the things we need like it has WIFI, Blue tooth, Camera, Big touch screen. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this looks more like a new Newton ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm shure: that's it! Only "vitual" keys, the whole front for the display, gestures to pop up the "keys" or the wheel. A new Newton? Shure! Inside!
ReplyDeleteI think this is it!
ReplyDeleteI think this is it!
ReplyDeletebad design idea... apple would never enter the smartphone market this too early

ReplyDeleteGot to agree with the person who said this:
ReplyDelete''apple would never enter the smartphone market this too early''
Nice design though :)
battery drain 2007. battery lasts shorter than your ipod nano 1st gen 1 gig. ;D
ReplyDeletei think this does appeal to the graphic designer/aadvertising crowd. but they arent as tech savvy as you think ;) anyways, i like this one. if there are skinny areas for chips to slide in the side to upgrade or for a memory card. thats cool. save the world once again from high technology turnover.
ReplyDeletehow about you stick to watching your star wars movies? this design does NOTHING for me.
ReplyDeletesoft everything....nice. Why have physical buttons at all when touch tech is so good. and they plan to offer about 3 different phones, so this would be aimed at business/smart phone market, while the slider-like nano-looking version could appeal to the low-cost phone only market.

ReplyDeleteохереть
ReplyDeleteI simply like it.
ReplyDeleteHowever if it will not just be a smartphone, I would rather buy Palm.
V. Cool if I were Steve Jobs I would go with this design over all the others.
ReplyDeleteImagine nice big touch screen buttons, software update downloads to add lots of future features without changing the hardware.
i think this is it. there was a hint that the new phone would be full screen (better for watching movies and such. but idk if a stylus would be a good idea. may get lost easily & annoying.

ReplyDeleteYou NAILED it !!!
ReplyDeleteThis was the winner.... Just announced! 01/09/2007 9:30AM
ReplyDeleteNot exactly right, but pretty close. The actual software so above and beyond what we thought it would be.
That's pretty darn close to what it actually is. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI love reading the coments about how apple will not get into smart phones.... you all are so smart! :)
ReplyDeletelooks like this guy had inside knowledge of what the iphone wud look like !!
ReplyDeleteSo this looks like it is very close to the real deal! Steves dislike of the stylus is the only thing you were off on. That and the fact that it runs OSX.
ReplyDeleteGood Job@! Pun intended!
As for the anonymous comment that Apple does not want to be in the $500 market your right they want to be in the $600 market!
I think the new phone is cool but 8/4gb is a bit disapointing to me!
You were the closest I have seen your design was pretty similar to apples with the all touch screen congrats
ReplyDeleteWow! This is really close to the actual product!good work
ReplyDeletewow, i cant believe how close you were
ReplyDeletenot bad. just glad apple did thet designing...i too love reading posts about apple not getting into smartphone market. It's here b-i-o-tch!
ReplyDeletewell done. almost better than the original. well, ok, just as good then. one of the few who dared think outside of the conventional yet backward phone designs that are already on the market. having said that, sony psp has been out for a while, but they obviously had less vision than you or apple. even though they have all the resources apart from software. i hope apple gets some game developers onboard... the sky is the limit. rubbershoes seems to be a master at deduction..... keep up the good work folks.
ReplyDeleteJust missed it on the pen. Who knows, this may have been a better solution for all of those exercise-deprived chubby-fingered geeks! Kudos, anyway.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. I am totaly with Mr "Only thing left to add is a mini camera, and make it able to surf the web. If they can do all that then I will SO buy it"
ReplyDeleteI am SO utterly going to buy the iPhone. I think it's the coolest, most usefull Gadget that has been built so far.
This 95% close to real iPhone except the stylus.
ReplyDeleteGood Guess !!
Gret job guessing dude! Congratulations!! You have got some serious potential! Use it more often...
ReplyDelete''apple would never enter the smartphone market this too early''
ReplyDeleteOH Really?
Almost spot on. :-)
ReplyDeletewell, the only bad thing about the lovely iphone is...
ReplyDeletewhen is it coming to latinamerica???
or at least...
when is it coming unblocked so I can jump to El Paso and grab a couple of them to stick my gsm card on it??
god! please make it possible before 2010!!
That is like so clooose
ReplyDeleteso this design is soo close to the reality, he must either be working for Apple, or he must be as creative as Apple team.
ReplyDeletegreat work hero.
did you actualy design the new iphoto? too close to the real one.
ReplyDeleteWow! You guessed right.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree. This is crazily close to the real one. (Not as cool though.) :P
ReplyDeleteSo far this is the only prototype that look like the real thing.
ReplyDeleteGood work to the designer.
Wow I'm really impressed!
ReplyDeleteYou should submit this to apple with your resume. Though I'd remove the stylus otherwise Mr. Jobs might make fun of you :-p
(watch the keynote if you don't know what I mean)
screen is huge, prolly crack easy .
ReplyDeleteОказался ближе всех
ReplyDeleteAll you people who didn't like this one are dumb asses. I think this is by far the closest to the real thing.
ReplyDeleteyeah this one is the closest!! WD :D me likes
ReplyDeleteThis one was the closest concept to the real thing I've seen so far.
ReplyDeleteBravo, the closet one to the real one.
ReplyDeleteYou were very close. Did you imagine the camera?
ReplyDeleteWow, I like to be a first buyer of this phone, is not for that it is smart, bcos it has all the things we need like it has WIFI, Blue tooth, Camera, Big touch screen. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteClosest to final design.
ReplyDeletekudos.
i bet this one was submitted by apple designers themselves... and they did read comments :)
